New York Shadowrun 5E

3 Dead in Bank Robbery

Three security personnel were killed yesterday at the New York branch of American Kiwibank. The raid came at around 2PM when an estimated seven intruders breached into the bank from both the top floor and the bottom through the use of explosives and terror.

"I was working the reception when I started to hear a commotion of sorts upstairs." Said John Hanson, a worker at the branch. "Then all of a sudden the floor in front of us gave way in this huge boom! Thank God nobody was standing there at the time. Moments latter these masked goons burst out of the hole and start waving their guns around."

The commotion that the man was referring to was when three masked individuals assaulted the top floor through methods that are unclear. The three robbers overpowered the security guards their in a swift fight.

"There was this one guy, slippery as hell, saw him friggen flip over a cubicle wall." Relates Michelle Henderson. "After he shot the guards with taser rounds he got up on the tables and told everyone to sit down, shut up and not be a hero. He had fricken AR blood coming out of his hands or something man. Terrifying as f***. Then this dwarf went and zapped everyone unconscious. It was crazy!"

After knockout bank staff, the robbers managed to break through the security systems through explosives and gunfire. The robbers used non-lethal force initially so it was hoped that there would be no casualties. This changed when security camera footage showed one of the robbers execute Technical Security Officer Mark Carpenter in cold blood.

"Based on what we have found from security cameras and logs. Carpenter was suffering dump shock after the turrets he was commandeering against the robbers were destroyed." Said Knight Errant Captain Lance Franklin. "Despite his condition meaning that he was no longer any credible threat against them, one of the robbers opened a port in his security door and shot him dead. This blatantly unjustifiable execution of a security officer was callous in the extreme." Carpenter leaves behind a wife and child.

Unfortunately he was not the only casualty. After escaping through the sewer entrance that they entered through, the robber came into contact with one of Knight Errant's HTR teams leaving the sewers. In the resulting fight the KE team was overpowered after two members were killed. The robbers soon made their escape after jacking the KE vehicle.

It is unclear as to what exactly the robbers stole from the bank. In the advent of digital currency no money was stored on site. The bank does offer a data vault as well as safety deposit boxes for lease. So far no one has claimed any losses.

Despite the high profile nature of the attack, only one robber was identified: Alejo Rojas, a 25 year old Aztlaner human man. He was identified by Knight Errant during an attack but escaped with his accomplices. Their current whereabouts are unknown. "This man and his accomplices are extremely dangerous. We have set up a temporary hotline for anyone who has information regarding the attack." said Captain Franklin. Police are also particularly interested in the human woman who executed Mark Carpenter. Other members of the criminal gang include two human men, one of which was a mage, another human woman, a dwarf mage and an orc.

Eight police officers are now in critical condition after a rampage by a unstable cyborg. An American human known as Gen Oliver Stewart, an unemployed cyborg from the UCAS. He was killed in the resulting firefight.

The rampage started after a 10 hour manhunt which occurred after he had allegedly murdered a man in a Berlin beerhouse on Tuesday. It is so far unclear as to what motive was behind the unprovoked killing. Witnesses reporting seeing the heavily augmented Stewart, who has cyberarms, punch a man leaving the bar, effectively killing him instantly. There was no clear motive for the attack. He then drove off in a nearby car shortly afterwards.

In the resulting manhunt, authorities got a tip off after Stewart filled his car up with petrol without paying after threatening the attendant. Said attendant Markus Bauer, said Stewart seemed highly unstable, and asking for directions to the French border, allegedly saying that he absolutely has to 'punch a Frenchman'. Despite these directions Stewart apparently got lost and was eventually spotted crossing the border into Switzerland where Swiss police eventually caught up and attempted to make an arrest.

"We set up a blockade and attempted to order the suspect to surrender." says Swiss police chief Marc Colantonio. "However he appeared aggressive almost immediately and we were forced to open fired after he charged our blockade. Multiple forbidden augmentations, including flametosser arms were used by the offender. HTR forces were called in and lethal force was authorised."

Witnesses report seeing Stewart as having an agitated appearance, as well as reportedly yelling that he had to punch a Frenchman. Only one of the eight injured police officers was of French descent. He did not have citizenship.

Stewart has had a history of mental problems and was in the midst of fighting for custody of his child with when he inexplicably did not show up to court proceedings. It was not clear how or why he ended up in Germany as there was no indication that he took a flight through any commercial airline. The attack has re-ignited concerns about cyber-psychosis. He is survived by one son who is currently being looked after by his mother.

Welcome to your campaign!
A blog for your campaign

Wondering how to get started? Here are a few tips:

1. Invite your players

Invite them with either their email address or their Obsidian Portal username.

2. Edit your home page

Make a few changes to the home page and give people an idea of what your campaign is about. That will let people know you’re serious and not just playing with the system.

3. Choose a theme

If you want to set a specific mood for your campaign, we have several backgrounds to choose from. Accentuate it by creating a top banner image.

4. Create some NPCs

Characters form the core of every campaign, so take a few minutes to list out the major NPCs in your campaign.

A quick tip: The “+” icon in the top right of every section is how to add a new item, whether it’s a new character or adventure log post, or anything else.

5. Write your first Adventure Log post

The adventure log is where you list the sessions and adventures your party has been on, but for now, we suggest doing a very light “story so far” post. Just give a brief overview of what the party has done up to this point. After each future session, create a new post detailing that night’s adventures.

One final tip: Don’t stress about making your Obsidian Portal campaign look perfect. Instead, just make it work for you and your group. If everyone is having fun, then you’re using Obsidian Portal exactly as it was designed, even if your adventure log isn’t always up to date or your characters don’t all have portrait pictures.

That’s it! The rest is up to your and your players.
